What to Look For in a Double Travel Buggy
A compact side-byside with a small footprint (for use in public transport and narrow doors). Add seats or carrycots (with adaptors), to make the frame more sturdy for children up to 50 pounds.
Budget double with suspension for the front and back for uneven surfaces. Large storage basket, padded handlebars and large storage basket.
Size
In general double pushchairs are generally wider than single models - especially when they're side-by-side buggies, like the Kolcraft Geo 3 and UPPAbaby Vista 2. This extra width allows them to accommodate larger children without straining their chassis. They also have other important features that make them stand out, including spacious pop-out canopies that come with SPF 50 and peekaboo windows; swivel lock front wheels which help navigate narrow spots such as aisles for shopping; cup holders for one parent and an innovative fold mechanism that can be done by one hand; and 10 inch back wheels that aren't designed for tough terrain but manage city streets and theme parks quite well.
These lightweight side-by-side buggies have surprisingly low price tags.
Weight

The heavier a double buggy is the more easy it will be to lift and maneuver. The Joie Evalite Duo, which is the most lightweight of our Lab tests, is a great choice if weight is an issue. It's still loaded with plenty of features like the large pop-out canopy, SPF50 and a peekaboo window as well as a quick-release folding mechanism that can be stowed flat in a matter of seconds, four-wheel suspension for rough terrain and a swivel wheel on the front, which makes it easy to maneuver narrow aisles of supermarkets and stores. Just over PS1,000 is a very affordable stroller. It can also carry twins or a baby and toddler with the purchase of an additional'sidepack'.
Flexibility
A good double buggy can provide a lot of flexibility, no matter if you have twins or a baby and a toddler. Buggies that are narrow can be used to fit through small spaces. Side-by-side models allow you to keep track of your children and keep them safe when you're out at the park or shopping. They also come with a wide variety of seat configurations which allows you to alter to your child's needs as they grow, and some even offer the option of adding an extra ride-on board or car seat.
The Joie Evalite Duo is a great example. It can be used to support two seats, or a car seat. The adaptors make it easy to convert from a single seat to a double in merely seconds. It also comes with a spacious pop-out UPF 50+ canopy sunshade, adjustable leg rests and peekaboo windows on both seats and a standing fold that's simple and easy to perform using just one hand; and a premium suspension that makes light work of rough terrain.
Tri-fold buggies such as the iCandy Peach are another versatile option. They are great to navigate narrow aisles and doors. They can also easily accommodate twins or a child and a larger child with the addition of UPPAbaby's"PiggyBack" board (which is available separately). The basket is generous and comes with all the extras including raincovers and liner.
Tandem buggies are generally designed with your children sitting side-by-side. This can make them more stable and easier to push on uneven surfaces, but they can be a challenge to maneuver over and up kerbs. double wagon stroller pushchairsandprams are larger than a one-seater and can be too long to fit through doors.
Comfort
One of the more comfortable and lightweight doubles we've tried the buggy has seats that are elevated to the level of stadium seats, so your kids can enjoy the view; nice-sized UPF 50+ canopy with windows that peek out; a padded toddler seat and an additional RumbleSeat, which has an adjustable leg and foot rests; and the cup holder that is single-parent. The seats recline independently by pressing a lever under each seat. Testers love the fact that the straps can be fastened or unfastened in one hand. It's also a doddle to fold, with a twist mechanism on the handle that makes it as easy as could be, and stores with the backrest upright for easy access.
With 30 different configurations (it'll accommodate twins or a toddler and a baby or three kids if you add the option of a 'PiggyBack' board) This is a great option for families who want to be able to grow with their child. The spacious basket and the soft suspension make it ideal for kerbs, as well as for use in cities. It is also very reasonably priced. BabyGearLab recommends this for children up to the age of six.
